Description

Two original antique lances as used by the Tuareg tribes of North Sub Saharan Africa. Feared raiders and slavers, weapons such as these were used by the elite warrior classes, the use of combinations of steel brass and copper were talismanic and typical of tuareg metalwork. Here the solid steel lances are decorated for their length with inlaid brass bands, and engraved detail to the steel itself, the spearheads with barbs beneath, the ends with flared finials, one with a small applied iron counterweight to balance the spear.   african
