Fine early Moroccan Snaphaunce musket with silver and niello decoration inlaid with red stones 18th century
A beautiful and scarce type of Moroccan musket, fully decorated with engraved silver panels and bands inlaid with niello designs, the butt applied with silver headed tacks. The barrel bound fully with fine cappucines engraved and inlaid, alternating with twisted brass wire bands. The barrel finely made of European manufacture and with various makers stamps at the breech, the tip slightly tulip shaped. Further steel mounts and applied redstone inlays to the upper body, the snaphaunce flintlock firing mechanism in good order and signed with two stamps to the faceplate.
