Turkish or Kurdish khanjar dagger with fine heavy silver sheath

Description

 A large Kurdish Jambiya dagger from Turkey or Iraq. The blade made from very good steel with a raised central strengthening ridge. The hilt is shaped from a single piece of black horn, with decorative rivets fashioned from silver eastern coins. The sheath is covered with thick good quality silver decorated in typical Kurdish style with filigree and twisted silver wire techniques of very fine workmanship. One side with an intergral silver lood for suspension.  Circa 1900. middle eastern
