Large Ethiopian shotel sword with horn handle and etched decorated blade

 A 19th century Ethiopian large curved sword often known as either a Shotel or Gurade.The hilt made from a brown horn, with a silver engraved domed pommel. The long high quality steel blade with elaborate etched decoration for some of its length, the fote etched on one side with the profile of a monarch, the other side with some wording and a crowned Lion. Complete with its hide scabbard. african
