A good 18th/19th century Turkish Ottoman shamshir or pala. Large scabbard mounts of gilt?brass, hanging bands, the reverse of the black leather finely sewn with silver-gilt wire.The hilt with very nice rich golden grips supposedly made from giraffe horn?, gilt-brass mounts and large crossguard. The deeply curved blade of good steel with sharp edge, there appears to be traces of some engraving or etched scroll near the crossguard, all complete and original. middle east
