Moroccan musket with Silver and ivory inlays

Description

A very old Berber musket from the Atlas mountains in North Morocco. The age of this gun can be seen by the wear to the wood aroun the cappucines where it would have been held to fire, this is visibly worn very thin attesting to the age and use of this gun!   The stock inlaid with plugs of ivory, silver and red lac and engraved fine decoration throughout. The barrel is stamped with an English makers name Curtis, and a further mark of initials in a cartouche to the breech top. Multiple good silver cappucines with fine engraved work, a very nice example. circa 1800
