Indo-Persian Khyber Knife with Damascus Blade

Description

 

A most unusual Indo-Persian sword of ‘khyber’knife’ form. The blade of exceptional quality showing bold whorl and loop patterns of mechanical damascus to both sides. The hilt gripped with large blocks of ivory, mounted with silver. Kukris from this region sometimes also show similar watering although it is rare to find it on a sword of this form. Good condition, one chip to ivory near the pommel. 26 inches approximately. North India, 19th century.
