Interesting French Hussars Cavalry sword in the oriental style

An interesting and unusual French sword in the oriental ‘shamshir’ style of the Vth Hussars, ‘5e Régiment de Hussards’ dating to the late 18th/early 19th centuries. The long steel blade gently curved and etched at the forte with a charming depiction of a French Hussar cavalryman, scrolling gilt motifs and ‘Vth Hussar’. The steel mounts inlaid with floral designs with beaded edges, the hilt of two sections of horn closely fitted together. The sword retains an original metal thread tassel. The scabbard covered with black hide, with large gilt-brass mounts to the top and bottom. Wear overall, minor loss to small area of chape. The 5e régiment de hussards Vth Hussars was a light cavalry unit, the last to be created by the ancien regime of France. As a unit it became famous for its actions during the American Revolutionary war, the French Revolutionary Wars, and the Napoleonic Wars, and was present at the Battle of Waterloo. It was also the chosen regiment of Louis Bonaparte, Napoleons brother who served as a Captain with the Vth Hussars from August 12, 1796 and was King of Holland from 1806 to 1810.  European
