Fine Keris Hilt from Banjarmasin Southern Borneo

 A very nice keris or kris hilt for a small sword from Banjarmasin, South Borneo. The shape and style of this piece borrows from the sulwawesi keris hilt. The very sculptural stylised firgure is made of gold-covered brass or copper decorated in bands with inlaid stones ‘intan’ possiby rough cut diamonds. The contrast of the gold together with the inset stones which have a remarkable glitter! which obviously cannot be replicated through photos, is very beautiful.The whole piece is in excellent condition with no loss of stones and dates to the 19th century.   southern asia
