Arab or Bedouin shamshir sword

A 19th century Eastern shamshir sword probably Arab or Bedouin. Interestingly the steel hanging bands on the scabbard have been fitted facing the less ususal way, a common feature of swords from the Caucasus, and Russia in the shashka style, to enable the sword to hang edge uppermost. The hilt is of dark horn inlaid with brass, and pewter stars, the crosspiece of steel possibly watered or damascus. The blade of good European steel, multi-fullered and gently curving, with one single cutting edge. Complete with its scabbard, which is covered with sewn leather. Collected in Tunisia during WWII . Overall length 39 inches, blade 33 inches.  Age wear overall.
