Description

A cast brass spiked macehead, probably from the Byzantine or Near Eastern region early medieval. The small head cast in one piece with four spikes one to each face, some loss to the cast ribbon edging decoration to the upper and lower areas. Fitted to a wooden shaft which is a replacement. Circa 1200 AD  middle east
