Large Chinese Dao sword of chopper or Cleaver type

 A very nice sturdy antique Chinese two handed sword Dao. Large thick steel chopper or cleaver type blade with angled tip. The handle is of wood, long and for two handed use, iron mounts and a lobed ‘tsuba’ style iron handguard. The butt mounted with a stout steel spike. Although this style of large two handed sword is often described as being an executioners sword which they undoubtedly were at times, this is a fighting weapon and would have been used by one specifically trained in its use. Dating to the 19th century, the blade 24 inches long approximately, overall length 41 inches. far east
