Pig Sticking or Tent Pegging lance British Military use
Description
An interesting lance of military type, often this form was used for the sport of ‘pig -sticking’ or ‘tent-pegging’ both at home and in the colonies, India being one such where both pastimes were particularly popular. This example has an applied silver label ‘TENT PEGGING – 1st prize – presented by Captain Courage Adjutant – won by Sergent S.J. Hellyar – Blandford Camp 1911’. Good overall condition, the patinated lancetip and butt with some old silver paint applied. european
