Balkan Ottoman Yataghan sword with ‘Damascus-twist blade’

A 19th century Ottoman Turkish or Balkan Yataghan sword. The heavy very thick steel blade curving forwards and with a broad band of ‘damascus’ or turkish twist pattern welded steel along its centre. Some remnants of silver cartouche decoration and silver applied ‘bolsters’ at the blade forte. The hilt of eastern silver chiselled with motifs and some old leadwork /repair to the pommel. Together with its scabbard covered roughly with leather and with iron mounts. Mid 19th century.  middle eastern
