Large Northern Greek Silver Belt buckle
Description
A very nice large belt buckle chiselled from silver with possible traces of gold. The front extensively chiselled with scrolls and ornamentation, with some traces of niello inlay. The centre panel chiselled with a bird. Northern Greece/Epirus 19th century. The decorative motifs used here can be commonly found on guns, and cartridge boxes etc from the same region. middle east
