18th/19th century Tibetan shortsword or Dirk dagger
A good quality antique Dagger or Dirk from Tibet, 18th or 19th century.Steel mounts with deep attractive chiselling to the hilt, gilt-brass overlay to the lower scabbard and a very large silver mount applique, the front of the sheath with an inlaid strip of iron with repousse work. The grip bound with silver wire and the pommel with a red coral inlaid silver mount. The long steel blade showing the fine lamellar steel patterns typical of the high quality work of the earlier tibetan bladesmiths. A fine working specimen from the Tibetan plateau surviving in untouched original condition. Approximately 23 inches long overall. tibetan, far east ke-tri khe-tri
