Ivory Hilted Indian Khanjarli Dagger with wootz steel blade and silver mounts

Description

A fine Indian dagger ‘Khanjarli’. Ivory grips having a lunette shaped pommel. Both sides of the hilt mounted with silver star rivets, the i other mounts silvered. The steel handguard with decorative chiselling and a drooping flower bud terminal again with silver covering. The recurved steel blade with silvered upper mount, fine chiselled lines and a thickened tip. Fine crystalline wootz damascus blade with fine ribbed chiselling, thickened tip. Minor ivory and tip wear.  18th century  Indo Persian
