Gilt Ottoman Dagger with marked blade

Description

 A nice large antique Turkish dagger. The whole hilt and sheath thickly covered with gold, in ‘tombak’ fashion ie gilt-copper. The stout blade is very strong and rigid with fullers and a deeply stamped marker make containing arabic writing. There is a band at the top of the sheath with engraved calligraphy, the sheath and hilt have engraved decoration to the borders and in panels. Small hangin loop to the reverse of the sheath which terminates in a small lobed finial. Good condition, circa 1800.   ottoman middle east balkan greece greek
