Charming Chinese knife 19th century

Description

A charming little chinese knife. At first glance rather ordinary, but on closer inspection the flat tang to this knife has ben twisted very cleverly along its length while being made. The grips made from horn and bone are then cleverly set into the spaces to form a straight handle. Very cleverly made, and a most unusual show of workmanship. The blade is also of good quality showing some patterning along the fuller and indeed it is possible the blade has further patterning or watering. Marked deeply to one side, and with a fuller on each side. Possibly originally part of a trousse or just a single knife. A nice out of the ordinary example, 31.5 cms. 19th century
