Magnificent and rare Indian serrated Haladie weapon

Description

 An ornately decorated Indian weapon known as a Haladie. Opposing twin recurved serrated blades decorated to both sides with chiselled decoration of animals, seated tigers, birds etc.all applied with gold.  The central grip section chiselled and decorated with applied silver koftgari, including a handguard with a central straight serrated blade, which also has a gold inscription in arabic or urdu on it on both sides. This form of weapon is occasionally seen although rare, and this example is unusual in having such lavish decoration. Dating to the second half of the 19th century, this is a robust and useable weapon. Approx 71 cms long overall
