Persian Watered Steel trident Lancehead with inlay and goldwork

Description

 A good rare Persian watered steel Trident Lancehead. Very strong steel and with waved outerblade, each blade ends in a strong thickened tip, watered wootz patterning is visible in areas. The centre part of each side is finely chiselled with the motif of Persia and Lion attaching its prey, within an inlaid cartouche. The lower ends of each blade is also inlaid to make each resemble a snake. The lower shaft facetted originally embellished with gold. A large good quality example. 18th/early 19th century, 60.5 cms overall
