Early Nguni Zulu warriors shield 19th century

A very nice old Zulu warriors shield. Lovely old age patina, and all the fur still remaining. The front cut with slits in the traditional manner. Old stick remaining but broken at each end. The edge of the shield is pierced all around with tiny holes which may be from an old mounting or an old embellishment to the rim.The colouring of white with scattered red spots was specific to the warrior status of married or unmarried, and the specific Impi regiment he fought in, several with this shield colouring fought at Isandlwana. 34 inches overall.
