Copper Clad Songye Congolese axe

 A nice antique Axe from the Songye. Well made steel hatchet blade with central pierced copper inlaid roundel, and chiselled decoration, the edges raised and reinforced. The shaft fully covered in  copper sheet, with two depressions at the either side of the top, and flared grip. late 19th century
