Description
A good quality Yataghan sword probably from Ottoman Greece Epirus, late 18th or early 19th century. The steel blade is thick and heavy and stamped deeply with silver inlay and a makers mark on one side. The hilt grip are made from slabs of black horn inlaid with silver pins known in the west as ‘pique’work, the other hilt fittings are of finely engraved silver, the blade mounts of solid silver very nicely chiselled, engraved and pierced along the bottom edge. very good condition
