Rare Angami Naga double handed sword Assam Burma

Description

Rare form of Naga sword, double handed, and with a curious shape. Double edged blade with broadened tip, curved mid section with protruding flattened guard ornament. The hilt with two metal guards with bamboo and fibre hair adornment, the grip ending with a flattened tail.  The grip bears traces of a stamped word in english, showing that the steel used has been imported high quality British steel, reused and reforged into this weapon. There must be mention of this weapons similarity to the also rare Land Dayak weapon from sarawak Borneo, the Parang Pandat, which similarly has a bent blade, two crosspiece guard. Perhaps sharing some sort of ancestral relationship

Rare complete piece circa 1900, Assam or Burma
