Unusual Afghan Pulwouar sword with pierced ball hilt and inlaid Shamshir blade

Description

An interesting variation of an Afghan Pulwouar sword. Unusual Indo Persian shamshir sword with deeply curved Persian steel blade probably of Damascus steel, the forte inlaid with a cartouche containing arabic calligraphy. The hilt of steel with shaped quillon guards and a large pierced handguard. The pommel of ball form with pierced decoration around the edge. Age patination throughout, with some minor wear and loss.  Circa 1800
