Rare Turkish Siper and Thumbring
Description
A rare Siper archery accessory for wearing on the hand, used by the Ottomans for flight shooting. The article specifically allows the arrow to be drawn back further than normal, or even for firing undersized arrows to enable further flight. Together with its matchin archers thumbring made from bone or ivory, retaining it’s original red leather padding. The siper itself is made from black horn covered with fine red leather and fabric, send with metallic thread wire. Complete and all original retaining straps and buckles. Probably 18th century.
