Antique Early Chinese Jian sword
An interesting antique Chinese sword of Jian form. Massive weapon of heavy weight, this sword would have been truly formidable in the right hands. Unusually for a sword of this jian straight-bladed type, the blade is single edged like a Dao. The back edge is thick and decorated along the spine with series of three notches running to the tip. The tip itself is rounded and has further nothcing on the point. The blade doesnt have any obvious signs of watering but is clearly very high quality steel and rings like a bell..! the hilt with robust iron crossguard and a large triangular pommel pierced to the centre. The grip wrapped with a twisted fibre-type cord. 33inches long overall. Dating at least to the 19th century probably much earlier. Far East/China
