Nepalese or North Indian Kora sword chopper 18th century

Description

An early Kora sword with incurved blade. This archaic form of sword is mainly known from Nepal, but was also used throughout India in various related forms. This piece appears to have great age, it retains its uncleaned blackened patina. The blade is thick and well-made with disc hilt guards, some fine engraved detail around the forte. The pommel with stacked disc type design. Similar koras can be dated to the 18th century, and may well be older than this.
