Rare form of German Sword Halberd

Description

An unusual and rare from of Halberd, probably South German. The halberd head surmounted by a longer sword type blade. heavy steel mounts and shaft iron straps along each side. Quadrangular wooden oak shaft with old dark patina, the remains of an old label near the foot. An identical halberd is in the Metropolitan Museum, and another was proeviously in the Higgins Museum Collection, US. 17th/18th century. 109 inches overall, the blade 44 inches.
