South Indian Ayda Katti chopper sword from Malabar

A rare Ayda Katti knife of large chopper form. Particular to Coorg, Malabar coats on the Southern coast of India. Very spectacular thick blade with various shapings and decorative chiselling at the forte. The hilt of black horn, large ovoid pommel slab with carved designs. Retaining an original woven tassel. Offered in untouched condition. Circa 1800
