Similar Pair of Persian or Kurdish miquelet lock pistols with inlay work

A most interesting and unusual similar pair of pistols from the near east. These are both of similar form, with unusual 'rifle' style butts, and have clearly been used together as a pair, and are probably from he same workshop. The inlays are of different patterns to each, although both feature the same 'mosaic' roundels, brass studs and ivory inlaid cartouches. The butts feature slabs of black horn to both. Each has a steel miquelet lockplate, one marked with a round makers stamp. Both barrels are slightly different in form, one with an obvious turkish twisted damscus patterning, the other with a facetted section length. The locks and decoration to each are of a style used throughout the Southern Caucasus, Persia/Iran into NorthernKurdistan and Turkey. Datin to the early 19th century, or earlier.    middle east
