Rare Nias sword with basket
A nicely patinated 19th century shortsword from Nias Island, Sumatra. The wooden handle shaped as a simple monsters head baring its teeth, brass collar. The blade of good stout steel with typical hooked tip sharpened on the inside. The scabbard banded with brass with some punched decoration, at the top it retains a small woven cane basket which could serve to tie amulets and charms if necessary.
