Antique Zulu or Swazi War Axe
A good war Zulu or Swazi war axe. Dating to the 19th century. Nicely patinated wooden haft with bands of woven copper wire. The lower grip incised with cross-hatching. The head mounted with a large arrow-shaped steel blade, two iron reinforcing plates either side of the wood. Beautiful patina throughout, a fine example. 28 inches long approximately. South Africa, 19th century.
