Large Indian Painted Dhal shield
A nice large flat Indian dhal shield, finely lacquered and painted with designs of animals. The centre depicting a Hindu face, typical of Rajput pieces. Steel bosses lacquered to match, the shield of flat buffalo hide. Very high quality paiting, loss and flaking to shield surface. 18th century, North India/Rajasthan. 23inches diameter. Indo-Persia
